About Us

Our Focus

We are a Delaware Benefits Corporation dedicated to the development, manufacture, marketing and successful deployment of efficacious products for the control or elimination of invasive species throughout the world.

The Invasive Species Control Corporation (our “Corporation”) was incorporated in September of 2021, with a mission to convene the marketplace for   environmentally responsible solutions to control the spread and impact of invasive plant, animal and bacterial species. Invasive species are causing some of our most pressing environmental and social problems, including threats to our food and water supply, threats to our forests and other ecosystems, pollution, climate change and the potential extinction of some scarce plants, animals and microbes.

In some instances conventional chemical pesticides used to control pests, often these chemicals are acutely toxic, some are suspected carcinogens and the use of some chemical pesticides has been shown to have other harmful effects on the environment, humans, animals and beneficial insects. In most cases these chemical pesticides have not actually proven effective against the invasive species our Corporation plans to target, such as pine bark beetle, the cause of death of conifers in the western US and other parts of the world. In lieu of such chemical products, our Corporation intends to focus on more environmentally responsible solutions, including (1) microbial pesticides, which contain a microorganism such as a bacterium or fungus as the active ingredient; and (2) biochemical pesticides, which are naturally occurring substances with a non-toxic mode of action such as insect sex pheromones, certain plant extracts and fatty acids. From an environmental perspective, such solutions have low toxicity, posing low risk to non-target organisms, including humans, other mammals, birds, fish and beneficial insects, and are also biodegradable.

Our Corporation intends to grow a portfolio of viable solutions to control invasive species through a multi-step process. First, we would identify solutions demonstrated to be efficatious  from private and public sources, including research institutions and environmentally conscious for-profit companies. . Our Corporation would then purchase or license these efficacious products for development and deployment. For a summary of the discovery process to be undertaken by the Invasive Species Foundation, as compared to the development, commercialization, and sales process to be undertaken by the Invasive Species Control Corporation, please see the figure included at the end of this summary.

Our Corporation initially intends to focus on six invasive species as follows:

  • Zebra and Quagga Mussels
  • Asian Carp
  • Toxic Algae
  • Pine Bark Beetle
  • Emerald Ash Borer
  • Pine Wilt Wood Nematode

These six invasive species were targeted by us because we believe we have already identified potential solutions and want to make headway as quickly as possible in order to encourage more people, governments, universities and companies to get involved in the development of invasive species control products.

The activities of both the Foundation and our Corporation  will start initially with its two founders, Dr. Pam Marrone and Jim Boyd, who worked together in the past as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer and the President and Chief Financial Officer, respectively of Marrone Bio Innovations, Inc., a discoverer and developer of biological solutions for the management of pests in the agricultural industry, and the country’s only publicly traded company (ticker symbol MBII) with an exclusive focus on biological pest control and plant health solutions.

Our Corporation’s initial priority will be securing operating capital through the sale of equity. We will initially begin our operation by developing a second generation of Zequanox, our Zebra and Quagga invasive species control product. This new generation will be significantly cheaper, granular for more ease of use, and more efficacious in both open water and closed pipe applications.  Simultaneously we will be working on bringing up the manufacture and marketing of our Asian Carp solution. The Corporation expects the majority of its officers and directors’ time will be spent in these activities through 2023. Beginning in the second half of 2023 and onward, the Foundation anticipates focusing more heavily on its other four previously stated  target species.
